Virginia Gardner

Art in Mosaic, in Charlottesville, Virginia

I grew up on the coast of Virginia.  Some of my earliest memories involve water.  Water has been an important part of my life for my entire life.  I am fascinated with water.  Water seems to change by the moment, whether it's the ocean, a lake, a stream, or even a puddle.  Water is constantly at the whim of it's environment, whether the warm summer breeze which bristles it's surface or the setting sun which glistens off of it's surface.  It can be peaceful one moment and then wholly violent the next.  There's a rainbow of color to see, depending on how the light is mixing with the water.  And with all of it's variety, with all of the motion, the change, I am comforted by the constancy of water.
