The sun is a symbol for life, growth, and abundance. I’ve emphasized its importance visually by weaving the elements of the sun, and I have softened its power by weaving in the sky. In order to use materials of such various sizes, I built the main structure using the double indirect method. I completed the piece by adding the remaining materials directly to voids which I created in the original design. This two-part process creates an added layer of movement which brings the sun alive.
