Uncommon Art in Mosaic
Virginia Mosaics is the studio of artist Virginia Gardner, located in the beautiful countryside surrounding Charlottesville, Virginia. Virginia’s work is noted for its intensity of color & bold use of textural elements. She creates two dimensional and sculptural pieces, incorporating a wide range of materials, from stained glass and shards of china, to found objects and natural materials such as jaspers and gemstones. Virginia's process may be random or spontaneous, a concept beginning with the discovery of a single piece of china or pattern of stained glass and evolving with the positioning of each tile. Another piece may begin with an image and evolve through thoughtful blending of disparate materials or patterns.
